MAIN AVENUE BRIDGE REMOVAL AND
ALTERNATIVES ANALYSIS
The existing bridge was constructed in 1933 and is a two-span,
concrete deck girder bridge with a 55-foot width and 85-foot
overall length. Previous routine bridge inspections have
identified a continued deterioration of the structure. In
November 2011, a detailed bridge inspection was performed of both
the topside and underside of the bridge. This inspection
revealed further deterioration and recommends that the bridge be
removed within the next five years.
Currently, the City is considering that the bridge removal
project be done in conjunction with the reconstruction of the power
canal beginning in 2012. At that time, the power canal will
be off-line and dry. An alternatives analysis for a long term
solution at the bridge location has been completed by the
engineering consultant, GRAEF.
If you have questions about the project, feel free to contact
the City of Kaukauna Engineering Department at 766-6305.

When will concrete street, gutter and sidewalks be
installed on my street?
The Engineering Department maintains a Five Year Capital
Improvements plan that lists proposed improvements throughout the
City. Please contact Public Works Director John Sundelius at
920-766-6305 for more information.
Will the City come out and mark my lot
lines?
The City of Kaukauna will not mark property lines for private
owners. However, we do have maps available that will show your lot
dimensions and a metal detector to help locate buried property
irons. Both the map and the metal detector usage are available to
City residents at no charge.
